Reed Cagle

Reed Cagle is a venerable consultant in the oil and energy industries. His profound expertise and innovative strategies have significantly advanced the operational efficiencies of numerous companies. Specializing in advanced techniques such as horizontal drilling, he is known for his ability to seamlessly integrate technology with traditional energy practices to enhance productivity and sustainability.

Born in Clarksville, Texas, in 1962, Cagle's roots are deeply entrenched in Texan soil, which he still considers his home despite his extensive professional travels. Married to his wife, Donna, for over thirty years, they have raised a son who is now an adult. The family resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from 1999 but eventually returned to Plano, Texas, in 2017, where they currently live.

Reed began his career in the oil industry in 1986 as an associate at Kinlaw Oil Corporation. His passion for the industry grew as he climbed the corporate ladder, driven by a desire to learn every aspect of the oil business. This ambition led to a series of promotions, culminating in senior leadership roles. After a decade of dedication at Kinlaw, he pursued his entrepreneurial aspirations.

In 1996, Cagle founded his own company in Dallas, Texas. A year later, he established Heartland Energy Inc., also known as HEI, taking on the roles of president and CEO. His leadership at HEI was marked by strategic collaborations with joint venture partners and energy professionals, including drilling contractors and engineers. The company gained renown for spearheading ventures and exploring new territories in oil, gas, and minerals. In 2006, his strategic vision led to the creation of a 2000 horsepower drilling rig, marking a significant advancement in HEI’s drilling operations.

Reed's entrepreneurial ventures expanded into the mining industry in 2011 with a successful mining concession in Oregon, where he managed to extract 89,000 ounces of gold. He also extended his expertise to Chile, where he oversaw the financing and operational management of a gold and copper processing facility in Copiapo. In this role, he pioneered a proprietary process that significantly enhanced the safety and efficiency of metal recovery by detoxifying hazardous substances from liquids used in the process.

Cagle resides in Plano, Texas, where he continues to provide consultancy services to various clients in the oil and energy sectors and to businesses in other industries. His expertise is particularly valued by midsize independent companies and a major landscaping company serving East and Central Texas.

Outside of work, Reed is deeply passionate about the outdoors. He is an avid hunter and fly fisherman, and he fervently promotes cycling for health and well-being. Additionally, he holds a private pilot's license, which he uses to explore new vistas and enjoy the freedom of flight. His outgoing personality and leadership skills are also evident in his active participation in his local church, where he organizes community activities.

Cagle is a proficient golfer with a four handicap, and he frequently participates in charity golf tournaments, often with his son, to support various charitable causes. He is the founder of Outreach, a non-denominational Christian charity aimed at improving lives through sustainable and spiritual development. This organization builds infrastructure such as homes, churches, and schools in the U.S. and abroad and is known for its annual Chip-In charity golf tournament.

Reed Cagle's career in the oil industry, spanning over 35 years, is distinguished by his innovative contributions, leadership, and commitment to both professional excellence and community service. His life story is a testament to his dedication to his family, his industry, and his philanthropic endeavors, making him a respected figure both in and out of the professional realm
